Chelsea have loaned out Nigeria defender Kenneth Omeruo to Middlesbrough for a second spell at the Riverside.

The 20-year-old was loaned to Championship outfit Boro for the second half of last season and clocked up 14 games for the club.

Now Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka, who served as Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho's assistant at Real Madrid, has used his friendship with the Portuguese to good effect.

And the defender is delighted to have returned to Middlesbrough, bolstering the club's squad ahead of the new season.

"I am not in a hurry [to break into Chelsea’s side] because everything in life is step by step", he told the BBC.
