Atletico Madrid midfielder Raul Garcia has revealed that Fernando Torres still has strong feelings for Los Rojiblancos, as talk of a return for the 30-year-old picks up pace.

Torres is thought to be wanted by Atletico Madrid, but the Spanish side are unwilling to meet the £13m fee Chelsea are seeking to sell him.

The striker started his career at the Vicente Calderon and would be a popular signing for the Spanish champions.

And Garcia says he knows Torres continues to hold Los Rojiblancos in high esteem.

"I speak to him a lot and he still feels very strongly about this club", the midfielder was quoted as saying by ITV.

"His life has been defined by what he experienced here and he is another option just like any other that the media have mentioned.

"Any great player that can come here will be welcome", he concluded.

Torres faces competition at Stamford Bridge for the new season from Diego Costa, who has joined Chelsea from Atletico Madrid.

However, one competitor has also left, with Demba Ba joining Besiktas.
