Liverpool full-back Jon Flanagan has vowed to fight hard to secure his place in the playing eleven during next season.

The competition to secure full-back positions in Brendan Rodgers' team will be intense as Jose Enrique returns from injury and Glen Johnson continues to be the manager's choice for the right-back position.

The youngster therefore knows that he will have to work his heart out to secure a place in the playing eleven.

However, he refuses to be complacent in any way and vows to start fresh concentrating on the season that is just about to begin.

"The past 12 months have been unbelievable and couldn't have gone much better", Flanagan told his club's official site.

"But that's gone and now we're just concentrating on this season which starts now.

"Personally I'm hoping to come out of pre-season injury-free and try to establish my place in the starting line-up again for the new season."

The England international managed a total of 25 appearances for the Reds last term, with a lone goal.
