Liverpool have quickly switched their attention back to Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno after Swansea City defender Ben Davies headed to join Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds had been keen on Davies, but have lost the race for the Welsh international left-back, who has now left Swansea's pre-season training camp to travel for a medical with Tottenham.

According to ABC Sevilla, that has sent Liverpool back to the negotiating table for Moreno, a player they have tried to sign all summer long.

Indeed, Liverpool all but had the Spain international, but became unsure about the fee Sevilla were demanding for the player and began to look at other options.

The Premier League side recently did business with Sevilla, sending striker Iago Aspas to the Spanish club on a season-long loan deal, including a purchase option.

Sevilla are expected to stick to their prior negotiating position over Moreno, something which places the ball firmly in Liverpool's court.

The Anfield club banked around £75m from selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona earlier this summer and that, combined with money from qualifying for the Champions League, means they are cash rich at present.
