Newcastle United have loaned midfielder Sylvain Marveaux to French side Guingamp for the whole of the 2014/15 campaign.

Marveaux was left out of Newcastle's trip to New Zealand recently and will now bid to relaunch his career back in his native France.

Should the 28-year-old impress during his time at Guingamp, the Ligue 1 outfit have an option included in the loan to sign him on a permanent basis.

Marveaux was snapped up by Newcastle on a free transfer from Rennes in 2011, the Magpies beating Liverpool to his signature.

However, he struggled to establish himself at St. James' Park and departs having made 57 appearances over three seasons, with 38 coming in the Premier League.

A product of Rennes' youth academy, Marveaux featured regularly for France at Under-21 level, winning eleven caps.

Guingamp finished 16th in Ligue 1 last season.
