The father of Tottenham Hotspur linked Nikola Vlasic believes his son should not consider moving away from his native Croatia at such a young age.

The 16-year-old is currently at Croatian giants Hajduk Split, though he has been linked with leaving, having attracted attention from a number of clubs, including Tottenham.

Vlasic has been dubbed the "new Luka Modric", with some in Croatia dubbing him a photocopy of the Real Madrid and former Tottenham midfielder.

But leaving Croatia at 16 is too much too soon for the midfielder, his father Josko believes.

"It would be better for him and his development to remain at Hajduk", Josko explained to Croatian outlet 24 Sata.

"It would not make sense for him to go away when he is so young, regardless of the money involved."

And the starlet's father has had no signals from Hajduk Split that they are thinking of cashing in on his son.

"I know that Hajduk do not have a lot of disposable income, but I do not think they are thinking of selling him."

Nikola has already been in action for Hajduk Split this season, turning out in one Croatian top flight clash and once in the Europa League, where he hit the back of the net.
