Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Liverpool to send young right-back Javier Manquillo to Anfield on loan.

The Reds were one of a number of clubs interested in the 20-year-old, a group that also included Arsenal. However, it is Liverpool who have won the race to sign the full-back.

According to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo, Atletico Madrid have agreed to send Manquillo on loan to Liverpool for two years, while the deal will also include an option for the English side to purchase the defender on a permanent basis for €6m.

However, Atletico Madrid will also boast the option to buy back Manquillo at any point over the next two years, as long as they are in the Champions League.

Manquillo has been attracted to Liverpool by the Reds having Champions League football on offer; the full-back was also concerned about the amount of playing time he would receive if he moved to Arsenal.
