AC Milan have joined Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder Douglas Costa.

The Brazilian recently refused to return to Donetsk along with several other players due to the fighting currently gripping the eastern half of the Ukraine.

Costa has been accused of using the unrest as an excuse to force his exit from the Miners, who have now switched their training base to the country's capital Kyiv, while their home games will be played in Lviv at Arena Lviv, over 600 miles from Donetsk.

It remains to be seen whether the 23-year-old is still prepared to remain in the war-torn country however and there are clubs queuing up for his signature.

From England, Arsene Wenger's Arsenal and Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham have been strongly linked with Costa, while according to Sky Italia, Milan are now in the thick of the race.

However, at present the Ukrainian champions are playing hardball and are unwilling to discuss Costa's departure.
