Liverpool are on the verge of completing the capture of full-back Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid, but Los Rojiblancos are already planning his return.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen for Manquillo to arrive at Anfield and made a specific request of his signing to the club hierarchy.

They have not disappointed, with Manquillo set to land at Liverpool on a two-year loan deal, with the Reds having the option to transform it into a permanent arrangement for €6m.

However, Atletico Madrid will hold a buy-back clause for the next two years, in that eventuality – and they are already certain they will use it.

Indeed, according to Madrid-based daily Marca, Atletico Madrid are confident of Manquillo's quality, with his loan to Liverpool being viewed as the perfect platform for him to continue his development before a return to the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico Madrid also see Liverpool as the right destination for Manquillo, as the move will allow the 20-year-old to play in a side in the Champions League and also with aspirations of challenging for the Premier League title.

Manquillo had also been chased by Arsenal, Getafe, Rayo Vallecano and Marseille. The only development which would see his buy-back clause become inactive is if Los Rojiblancos do not qualify for the Champions League.
