Didier Drogba has reached an agreement to return to Chelsea, with the only thing missing the official confirmation, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

The 36-year-old, who left Turkish giants Galatasaray at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract, has been strongly linked with returning to Stamford Bridge.

Drogba is expected to pen a one-year deal with Jose Mourinho's men, which will also include a provision for him to remain at the club in a coaching capacity following its expiry.

The Ivorian left Chelsea in 2012 after firing the club to Champions League success.

Drogba headed to China for a big-money stint with Shanghai Shenhua, before departing to join Galatasaray in January 2013.
