James Rodriguez has insisted he is unfazed by his huge price-tag and claims that he is only interested in helping his new employers Real Madrid win more trophies in the near future.

The Colombia international, who won the Golden Boot at the World Cup after scoring six goals in Brazil, joined Los Blancos from Monaco on a six-year deal yesterday.

Neither Monaco nor Real Madrid confirmed Rodriguez’s fee, but it is believed to be between €75m and €80m, which means the 23-year-old is just behind Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez on the list of football's most expensive transfers.

However Rodriguez, who is looking forward to playing alongside a number of “stars” at the capital club, explained that he is not interested in “numbers”.

"The numbers mean nothing to me. I just want to help make history and bring joy to the Madrid fans”, he was quoted as saying by FIFA’s official site.

“It is a pleasure to be among so many stars and I'm sure I'll learn a lot from everyone."

Rodriguez, who joined Monaco from FC Porto for €45m just last season, is Real Madrid’s second big signing of the summer after Toni Kroos.
