Shakhtar Donetsk are to shift their training base to the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv and play home games in Lviv, due to the conflict gripping the country.

The club's Donetsk home is in the east of Ukraine, an area beset by fighting between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian militia.

Six of Shakhtar Donetsk's foreign players, Alex Teixeira, Douglas Costa, Dentinho, Facundo Ferreyra, Fred and Ismaily, refused to return to Donetsk following a friendly in France on Saturday.

Now, due to the fighting, the Ukrainian champions will base themselves in the country's capital of Kyiv.

They will play their home games at the Arena Lviv, in Lviv, which is over 600 miles west of their Donetsk home.
