Stoke City have confirmed the signing of Bojan Krkic from Barcelona on a four-year deal.

The Potters paid an undisclosed fee for the Spaniard, who becomes the club’s fifth summer signing after Mame Biram Diouf, Steve Sidwell, Phil Bardsley and Dionatan Teixeira.

Torino, Deportivo La Coruna and Olympiacos were all interested in Krkic, but the Britannia Stadium outfit won the race to sign the winger.

The 23-year-old, who scored 41 goals in 163 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona, also played for Roma, AC Milan and Ajax.

Following the competition of his move, Krkic jetted off to Germany to link-up with his new team-mates at the club’s training base in Reit im Winkl.

And Stoke City manager Mark Hughes, who is delighted with the capture, revealed that Krkic is “desperate” to prove himself in the Premier League.

"Anyone who knows European football will be aware of him as a player and the fact that he sees his future at Stoke City is really exciting and an endorsement of the club itself", the manager explained to his club's official site.

"He's desperate to prove himself in the Premier League and we're pleased to be able to offer him that platform.

"The time he spends with the squad in Germany will help him settle in and will give myself and the coaches the chance to take a good look at him."

Krkic, who is a product of Barcelona’s youth system, has a single senior cap for Spain, and has also represented the nation at various youth levels.
