Serie B side Latina Calcio appear to have given up hope of signing Roma midfielder Federico Viviani in the face of a strong push from Leeds United.

Viviani arrived in Leeds earlier this week and watched the club's 2-0 friendly defeat to Mansfield Town. However, his move from Roma has run into a number of unspecified contractual issues, which his advisors and Leeds and now working to resolve.

 



Latina Calcio, who took Viviani on loan for the latter half of last season, have been waiting in the wings and hoping to do a deal.

But in a sign they have given up hope, the Serie B outfit have now joined the race for Catania midfielder Federico Moretti, according to Sky Italia.

 


Livorno and Lanciano are also interested in the 25-year-old midfielder, who has spent the last three years away from Catania at Grosseto, Modena, Spezia and Padova.

Viviani helped Latina Calcio reach the playoffs in Serie B last season, but is expected to spend next term with Leeds if his contractual issues can be ironed out.

He would be the English club's sixth summer signing.
