Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has termed Louis van Gaal a very demanding manager who is always looking for perfection.

The Spaniard was named the Man of the Match in Manchester United’s 7-0 pre-season friendly win over LA Galaxy yesterday in the Chevrolet Cup.

Playing in his first match for the Red Devils, Herrera pulled the strings from the middle of the park and provided two assists in the second half.

"We are happy with the result but let's not forget this is a friendly and we still have many things to improve on", the 24-year-old was quoted as saying by the BBC.

The Spaniard believes Van Gaal is the ideal manager for Manchester United and feels that he is a very demanding personality who will accept nothing short of perfection from his players.

"Our coach is a very demanding coach, he always looks for only perfection and for that reason he is ideal for a club that always looks to achieve the greatest things, he won't let us sit back and relax or sit back, we still have a lot to prove."

Herrera joined Manchester United from Athletic Bilbao last month for a transfer fee of £29m on a four-year contract.
