Benfica are just a step away from signing striker Bebe from Manchester United, with the Portuguese poised over a four-year contract at the Estadio da Luz.

According to Portuguese daily Record, Benfica are hoping to be able to use Bebe in the Eusebio Cup, which starts tomorrow and sees the hosts lock horns with Ajax at 19:45 CET.

Bebe has been training with Manchester United's reserves and waiting for the green light from the Red Devils to complete his switch back to Portugal.

The 24-year-old spent last term on loan in Portugal with Pacos de Ferreira, catching Benfica's eye.

He cost Manchester United a fee of £7m to snap up from Vitoria Guimaraes, but failed to make the grade at Old Trafford.
