Jose Mourinho has admitted that Chelsea are looking at the possibility of bringing Didier Drogba back to the club.

The 36-year-old striker, who is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Turkish giants Galatasaray after the end of the last campaign, spent eight successful seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Drogba left Chelsea in 2012 after helping the club to win the Champions League by scoring the decisive penalty in the shoot-out victory over Bayern Munich in the final.

And Mourinho, who signed the Ivory Coast international during his first managerial spell at the club from Marseille in 2004, feels Chelsea will be stronger with the addition of Drogba to their ranks.

The Portuguese coach further went on to add that the decision to bring Drogba back to Chelsea is being considered in a “non-emotional” manner.

"If I bring him back, and the decision has to be made soon, it is because as a player he has qualities to make the team stronger", Mourinho was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"Because we know his heart is pushing him to where he feels he belongs, we are thinking about the possibility [of a deal]. We feel that Didier belongs to us.

"If you bring him back it is not because he is Didier or scored the most important goal in the history of Chelsea, or because I read I need an assistant, no.

"We want to win matches and win titles and Didier is one of the best strikers in Europe. He is still very adapted to the needs of the Premier League and we are thinking about it in a non-emotional way."

Drogba, who scored 157 goals in 341 appearances for Chelsea, helped the club to win three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and a Champions League.
