Manchester City have released a video, which was later taken down, that appeared to show FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala signing for the club.

The Frenchman, who has been linked with a move to the Citizens since the winter transfer window, is believed to be on the verge of joining the Premier League champions, although there has been no official announcement.

However, the video on Manchester City’s official site showed Mangala undergoing a medical.

But a club spokesperson revealed that their system was hacked and that the transfer has not been completed yet.

"Our video storage system for City TV has been hacked and the video was leaked. The deal is not done or officially confirmed on our website", he was quoted as saying by the BBC.

In the clip, Mangala was also seen giving the Manchester City fans the following message.

“I am here to help the team win titles, the league, the cup and the Champions League. I am ambitious and this is why I am here.”

Mangala, who has a further two years left on his current deal with Porto, has helped the Dragons to win two Portuguese league titles.

The centre-back was an unused substitute during France’s World Cup campaign in Brazil.
