New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has set his sights on PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay.

The Red Devils have been linked with the speedy winger throughout the summer, chatter which only increased following Depay's performances for the Netherlands at the World Cup, which came under Van Gaal.

According to French broadcaster Eurosport, Van Gaal is now preparing to make a push to sign the youngster, as he bids to start reshaping his squad at Manchester United.

PSV have insisted that no firm offer has yet arrived for Depay, with the club's coach Phillip Cocu certain in his belief that the 20-year-old is not ready for a move.

Cocu said: "He has just finished a season as a regular player in the Eredivisie. Going now would be, in my eyes, too fast."

And the PSV coach's words were echoed by former Barcelona and Chelsea winger Boudewijn Zenden, who has called for a two-year Eredivisie stay for Depay.

"I think Depay should stay in Eindhoven for two years", explained Zenden.

"He needs to grow with PSV and then have a nice transfer after the European Championship in 2016."
