Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has insisted that he still has to prove himself, despite enjoying a successful 2013/14 campaign.

The 19-year-old, who scored 10 goals in all competitions for the Reds last season, was also impressive in England’s otherwise disappointing World Cup campaign.

But with Liverpool already signing as many as four new players this summer, Sterling is aware that he will need to up his game in order to keep his place in the club’s starting line-up.

Hence, the starlet is unwilling to rest on his laurels and instead wants to keep working hard so that he can give his all to the Merseyside giants in the upcoming campaign.

"I've still got to prove myself; the manager has brought players in that are all in similar positions to me, so I've just got to keep working hard, show the manager what I can do and try not to take my foot off the gas, pressing for a place in this team”, Sterling explained to his club’s official site.

"It's a top football club with top players, who come in to compete and do their best every day. That's been no different so far [in training].

"There is definitely much more to come from me. I just need to keep working hard and hopefully I can get into my full stride this season and try to do the best for the football club."

Sterling, who has a further four years left on his present contract with Liverpool, has thus far amassed 77 appearances for the club, scoring 12 times and providing 15 assists.
