Barcelona have not given up hope of signing defender Marquinhos from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan giants recently completed the signing of French left-back Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia for a fee of €20m.

But the club's defensive shopping has not yet ended and now a central defender is being eyed, with Marquinhos one of those players Barcelona are keen on.

The Camp Nou outfit have been linked with the former Roma man throughout the summer, however PSG have appeared reluctant to sell.

With the French champions targeting raising money though following the €50m capture of David Luiz from Chelsea, Marquinhos may be sacrificed.
