West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan has conceded that the club are losing some of their top young talents, but has blamed "crazy wages" offered by Premier League rivals for the departures.

The Hammers, who have a highly regarded youth development system, have lost promising young talents to Premier League rivals, a source of concern for some of their fans.

And during a Twitter Q&A session, co-chairman Sullivan spelled out the reason for the talent drain.

Asked why West Ham are losing top young players to Arsenal and Manchester United, Sullivan replied: "Sadly they are offered crazy wages by clubs far richer than us, but we are working on reversing this trend."

West Ham youngster Oscar Borg has been on trial at Manchester United recently, with the 16-year-old having been dubbed the new Gareth Bale.

And another West Ham starlet is also wanted, with rising star Reece Oxford having been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

Should Oxford also leave the Hammers, West Ham will again feel the pain of losing a homegrown talent before they can set foot in the first team.
