Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has not given up on keeping Angel di Maria, even as the Argentina winger edges closer to the exit door.

Di Maria is being chased by Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, with Real Madrid looking to recoup a portion of the close to €80m fee spent to sign James Rodriguez from Monaco.

Ancelotti though remains a firm fan of Di Maria and has already claimed that the arrival of Rodriguez should not be seen as direct competition for the Argentine.

And the former Chelsea manager is still expecting to have the 26-year-old at his disposal when he returns from an extended break due to his participation in the World Cup.

Speaking after Real Madrid's 1-1 friendly draw against Inter in California, which resulted in a penalty shoot-out win for the Italians, Ancelotti explained: "There is nothing new on the market.

"Di Maria finished the World Cup and he's resting.

"He will be back on 5th August to start [training] with his team-mates."

Di Maria helped Real Madrid to win both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League last term, clocking up 26 assists in all competitions.
