Arsenal have officially confirmed the arrival of goalkeeper David Ospina from French Ligue 1 side Nice.

The fee that the Gunners are paying for the Colombia international has not been disclosed, but is thought to be between €4m and €5m.



Arsenal announced in a statement: "David Ospina will join Arsenal Football Club on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee."

The arrival of the 25-year-old shot-stopper has been quickly welcomed by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who feels that the club are acquiring a goalkeeper of proven quality.

 


"David Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper, with good experience and a proven record of performing with Nice and Colombia", Wenger commented.

"He will add strength to our squad and we are very pleased that he will be joining us."

The club also confirmed that Ospina is being lined up to make his Arsenal debut in the pre-season friendly tournament the Emirates Cup, which takes place over the weekend of 2nd and 3rd August.
