Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of centre-back Dejan Lovren from Southampton.

The Reds are thought to have paid £20m to snap up the Croatia centre-back, who turned out for his country at this summer's World Cup in Brazil.

Lovren made public his desire to move to Liverpool earlier this summer and has got his wish, with Liverpool announcing: "Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of defender Dejan Lovren from Southampton. The 25-year-old Croatian international today put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the Reds after completing his medical."

The defender joined Southampton last summer from French giants Lyon, but has remained at St. Mary's Stadium for only a year.

He becomes the third player Liverpool have signed from Southampton this summer, following in the footsteps of striker Rickie Lambert and midfielder Adam Lallana.
