Arsenal have completed the signing of Calum Chambers from Southampton, paying a fee believed to be around the £16m mark for the 19-year-old.

Chambers has penned what the Emirates Stadium club have described as a "long-term" contract and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is delighted with his arrival.

"We are very pleased that Calum has agreed to join us. The way he adapted to the Premier League last season with Southampton at a young age shows that he has tremendous quality", Wenger said via his club's site.

"He has a lot of the attributes that we look for in a young player and I am sure that he will do well with us", the Frenchman added.

Chambers, an England Under-19 international, made 22 appearances in the Premier League for the Saints last term.
