Celtic manager Ronny Deila has snapped up countryman Jo Inge Berget from Cardiff City on loan.

The 23-year-old striker, who Celtic have added to their squad list ahead of this week's Champions League qualifier against Polish outfit Legia Warsaw, has joined the Bhoys on loan until January.

Celtic will have an option to make the Norwegian's stay permanent if he impresses at Paradise.

Berget has instantly expressed his delight at joining the Scottish champions, telling the club's site: "I know what a magnificent club Celtic is and what the club means to the supporters – it is a real privilege to be here.

"I also know the manager very well and I am delighted to be teaming up with him again and, of course, the great squad of players at the club."

Deila, who is familiar with the striker from Norwegian football, feels that he has added a quality option to Celtic's squad.

"I'm really pleased that we have been able to add Jo to our squad. I know his qualities and I am sure he can add something new to the team", Deila explained.

"He is a player who will work hard and give everything to the team. I hope he can enjoy a successful time at Celtic."
