Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes has emerged as a priority target for Bayern Munich, according to L’Equipe.

The 32-year-old is currently a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Spanish giants Barcelona after the end of the 2013/14 season.

And Bayern Munich want Valdes, who is presently undergoing rehabilitation to recover from his cruciate ligament injury in his right knee, to keep the club’s number one custodian Manuel Neuer on his toes.

The Bundesliga champions are short of a back-up goalkeeper after Lukas Raeder left for Vitoria Setubal earlier in the month.

If Valdes does join the Bavarians, he will be reunited with Pep Guardiola, who managed Barcelona between 2008 and 2012.

The custodian is a product of Barcelona’s youth set-up and amassed 528 appearances in all competitions for the club, keeping 235 clean sheets.

Ligue 1 outfit Monaco, who were heavily linked with a move for the Spaniard since last season, backed out of a deal to sign Valdes earlier in the summer due to his injury.
