Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has raised suspicions over Loic Remy’s failed medical at Liverpool.

Remy’s move to Liverpool failed to go through over the weekend after it emerged yesterday that the Frenchman failed to pass the medical required to complete the transfer.

A transfer fee with QPR was agreed but the unexpected twist in the tale led to Liverpool calling off the move for Remy, something Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has explained is "unfortunate" for the player and the club.

"He is a fantastic striker", Redknapp was quoted as saying by the BBC.

The former Spurs boss stressed that Remy is completely fit and believes that given that fact, the story has more than meets the eye.

"Reports have come out he failed a medical. That's not possible.

"He is a very fit lad, there has to be another reason."

The Frenchman joined QPR from Marseille in January last year, but after the club’s relegation from the Premier League, he moved to Newcastle United last summer on a season-long loan deal.

He clocked up 27 appearances for the Magpies last season, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists.
