Edinson Cavani is expected to join his Paris Saint-Germain team-mates in training later today in Hong Kong.

The PSG squad, excluding Cavani, flew to Hong Kong for their pre-season tour of Asia on Friday, which sees them meet a local side on Tuesday and then play Guingamp at the weekend in the French season curtain-raiser.

The Uruguayan was reportedly suffering from a virus, but now the French champions’ medical staff have given him the green light to join the squad.

Cavani clocked up 30 league appearances for the French champions and scored 16 goals for the club last season.

He also scored for Uruguay in their 3-1 loss to Costa Rica in the World Cup and played a crucial role in the South American side’s progress to second round of the tournament.

The 27-year-old has been widely linked with a move to Manchester United and it is believed that his agent has met the club four times over the course of this summer.

Cavani joined the Parisians last summer from Napoli and still has four years left on his contract with the club.
