Southampton are facing losing two more first team players as the exodus from their squad continues apace.

The Saints bid farewell to defender Dejan Lovren yesterday, the defender joining Liverpool, while earlier today right-back Calum Chambers completed a move to Arsenal for around £16m.

Next set to exit are midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin and forward Jay Rodriguez, with Tottenham Hotspur closing on the signature of the pair, according to ITV.

Spurs, now bossed by former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino, are stepping up their efforts to sign the duo and are confident of taking them to White Hart Lane.

Southampton are thought to want around the £27m mark for Schneiderlin, a man snapped up for just €1.5m from Strasbourg in 2008.

Rodriguez is currently injured with a cruciate knee ligament injury, but his quality is well known to Pochettino, hence the Argentine wanting the 24-year-old to follow Schneiderlin to north London.

Southampton have already raised £92m in player sales this summer and the departure of the duo would push that well above the £100m mark.
