Belgian giants Standard Liege have snapped up Celtic striker Tony Watt on a five-year contract.

Watt spent last term on loan in Belgium with Lierse, impressing and grabbing eight goals in 17 Jupiler Pro League appearances despite having a less than smooth relationship with the club's manager.

Now he is permanently in Belgium, after joining giants Standard Liege for a fee thought to be around the €1.5m mark.

Watt was quick to express his delight at the move, telling the club's site: "For me, Standard is a great club, which has proven this in the past.

"I also know the fans are passionate. I want to show the same passion, the same hunger."
