Swansea City manager Garry Monk has warned Liverpool off Wilfried Bony amid speculation the Reds may rekindle their interest in the Ivorian striker.

Liverpool saw their bid to sign Loic Remy collapse over the weekend due to concerns raised by the QPR striker's medical.

Brendan Rodgers' men were linked with Bony before moving for Remy and have been tipped to once again go after the former Vitesse marksman as they look to compensate for Remy's non-arrival.

But Monk is desperate to keep hold of the 25-year-old, who contributed 25 goals for the Swans during his first campaign with the Welsh giants.

"We've had no contact from anyone at all", Monk was quoted as saying by the BBC.

"At the end of the day he's not for sale, unless someone comes in with an astronomical offer.

"Unless they want to pay an astronomical fee he's going nowhere."

However, Monk has taken a philosophical approach when considering how Bony might feel if Liverpool or any other club in the upper echelons of the Premier League come calling.

"It would be silly for any player to say 'I only want to stay at this club'.

"Because if a bigger or better so-called club comes along and it's a higher level of football, then every player's going to do it.

"But having spoken to him, he knows he's a Swansea City player. He knows that nothing's happened so far."
