Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has asserted that he is not going to indulge in any mind games with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho questioned Luke Shaw’s move to Old Trafford earlier this week and said that giving in to the left-back's wage demands would have destabilised the Chelsea squad.

However, Van Gaal has decided to avoid getting into a war of words with the Portuguese and described him as a friend.

"I don't think I will fall out with him. He is my friend", the Dutchman was quoted as saying by ITV.

The former Barcelona manager stressed that he has a lot of respect for all the managers.

He also added he is not into mind games as his hands are already full with the job of managing Manchester United.

"I don't think [I will fall out with] all the other managers. I have full respect for all my colleagues.

"For me [mind games] are not so interesting. I have to manage my club.

"That is already difficult enough. I am not concerned with other clubs or other managers."

Van Gaal will pit his wits against his former assistant, Mourinho, when Chelsea visit Manchester United on 26th October.
