Schalke coach Jens Keller is backing Julian Draxler to deliver for the Ruhr giants in the upcoming campaign.

The youngster endured an inconsistent 2013/14 with Schalke, as transfer speculation continually proved a distraction, links with Arsene Wenger's Arsenal prevalent.



The attacking midfielder revealed that he turned down an approach from Arsenal in January, explaining: "In January there was the offer of Arsenal, but I decided to stay."

And Keller is expecting a loyalty dividend, with Draxler continuing to grow at the club.

 


"The last year did not go so well for Julian", Keller explained to Bild.

"Nevertheless, he went to the World Cup and it will have given him a boost.

"He will deliver in this second season, I know it and so does he."

Schalke start their new Bundesliga campaign by locking horns with Hannover on 23rd August.
