Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis could be poised to move for Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen.

De Laurentiis is aiming to present Napoli with a transfer surprise this summer and, according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, the player in question may be Eriksen.

Spurs only snapped up Eriksen from Ajax last summer and the Denmark international quickly settled in English football, earning plaudits from all quarters.

However, Tottenham failed to qualify for the Champions League following a finish of sixth, and Eriksen has been linked with a move away.

Napoli, who finished third in Serie A last term, would be able to provide the playmaker with Champions League football, but affording whatever fee Spurs might demand for Eriksen could prove tricky.

The Azzurri have already been linked with Tottenham midfielder Sandro this summer, but progress towards a deal has been slow due to a difference in valuations between the respective parties.

Eriksen's contract at White Hart Lane runs until 2018.
