West Ham United's new signing Enner Valencia has been granted a work permit and instantly set his sights on matching the feats of countryman Antonio Valencia in the Premier League.

Enner boosted his stock at the recently concluded World Cup, scoring three times for Ecuador and prompting West Ham to snap him up from Mexican side Pachuca.

The 25-year-old had to play the waiting game for a work permit, but now it has been granted and he has linked up with his new team-mates.

And Enner wants to impress in the Premier League in a similar manner to countryman and namesake Antonio, who turns out for Manchester United.

"The Premier League is the top league and I have followed it in Mexico", the striker told West Ham's site.

"Obviously my countryman Antonio Valencia has played here for a long time so it's a big step for me to come here from Mexico and I hope I can be as successful as Antonio.

"It's exciting to be here in England and London. I want to repay the club in my performances for what they are investing in me and I'm really looking forward to it."

Enner may find himself thrust into the spotlight at Upton Park quickly, following a serious injury to fellow striker Andy Carroll which has put him out of action for up to four months.
