Ron Vlaar has revealed that Aston Villa are desperate to hang onto him this summer and he will meet his agent to discuss his future.

Vlaar’s performances for the Netherlands in the World Cup, where they finished third, have attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe.

Italian Serie A outfit Lazio are the latest linked with moving to sign the experienced central defender this summer and are on the verge of signing his compatriot Stefan de Vrij.

Vlaar has just a further year left on his contract, but Aston Villa are not contemplating selling him this summer.

He explained that he will soon meet with his agent to assess the offers on the table and take a decision on his future.
