Ruhr rivals Borussia Dortmund and Schalke are battling it out for the signature of Adem Ljajic from AS Roma.

The Serbian joined Roma from Fiorentina last summer and still has three years left on his contract with the capital club.

The 22-year-old has attracted interest from clubs across Europe with some eye catching performances in Italy last season, however Roma are prepared to offload him for the right price.

Dortmund have been tracking the Serbian throughout the summer, but they will face stiff competition from their German rivals Schalke for his signature, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Schalke have kept a close eye on Ljajic’s progress and are ready to tussle with their bitter rivals Dortmund for the former Fiorentina man.
