Leeds United manager David Hockaday feels that the team are progressing well before the start of the new season.

The Yorkshire giants finished 15th in the Championship table on 57 points last season and Hockaday would like to improve on their performance in the next campaign.

The Whites registered a hard-fought 2-1 win over Swindon Town yesterday in their latest pre-season friendly and the head coach is happy that the team faced a stern test before the start of the new season.

“I knew that it was going to be a tough test because Swindon play good football”, Hockaday told the club’s official site.

“I just think that inch by inch we are getting better.”

The 56-year-old feels that Leeds still need to improve on a few aspects of the game, but he is happy with the overall progress he has seen from his squad to date.

“In regards to match management and actually winning games there is lots of things that we need to work on but overall I think it is a step in the right direction.”

Leeds will start their league campaign away to Milwall next month.
