Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has said that he will be careful with Cristiano Ronaldo, in spite of the player having recovered from his knee injury.

The Portuguese international picked up an injury towards the end of last season and even though he was part of his country's World Cup campaign, he has not been part of Los Blancos' pre-season friendlies against Inter Milan and Roma in the USA.

And as Ancelotti's team prepare to play their third International Champions Cup match against English giants Manchester United on Saturday, the manager insists that he would prefer not to take any risks with his star player before the start of the gruelling domestic season.

"We have to be careful, and right now this calls for calm", the 55-year-old told his club's official site.

"He is taking things very carefully, but the problem is forgotten.

"He did a double session today and is working well on his own.

"We will see in the next few days if he can train with the side and play against Manchester."

Ronaldo was in the form of his life last season, having scored 51 goals in 47 appearances and led his team to La Decima by winning the Champions League.
