Sunderland are just inches away from sealing the signing of Luis Pedro Cavanda from Lazio.

The Black Cats are pushing hard to snap up the Belgian defender and are moving ever closer towards a final agreement with Lazio to capture Cavanda.

New Lazio coach Stefano Pioli has deemed Cavanda surplus to requirements at the club, meaning the Roman side are opening the door for his departure.

According to Italian daily Corriere della Sera, Sunderland are now just one step away from stealing Cavanda away from the Serie A side.

Lazio snapped up Cavanda from Standard Liege's youth ranks, with the starlet tipped for big things.
