Manchester City star Yaya Toure has revealed that he wants to stay at the club for “as long as possible.”

The midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer, following his agent Dimitry Seluk’s claims about the club’s hierarchy treating the Ivory Coast international disrespectfully.

The 31-year-old, who then lost his younger brother Ibrahim to cancer, also suffered a disappointing World Cup campaign in Brazil as the African nation were knocked out of the group stage of the tournament.

However, Toure insists that he is now fully focused on Manchester City and that he wants to prolong his career at the Eastlands club.

"It was not a case of leaving the club. It was difficult because my situation was quite difficult", he told his club’s official site.

"For me I was always quiet and my decision is that I will stay at Manchester City for as long as possible."

Toure further added that Manchester City’s prime objective in the upcoming campaign will be to perform well at the Champions League, in addition to defending their Premier League title.

"We are looking for the Champions League – that is an important title this year and the Premier League is going to be a battle as well between Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool too”, he added.

"I think it's going to be very open. We know we are the team to beat but we have the confidence and we have the fantastic players coming and I hope this year's going to be the same."
