Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has stated that he is still interested in signing Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers.

The Frenchman had a fruitful last season on loan at Newcastle from QPR and scored 14 goals in 27 appearances for the Magpies.

Pardew has stated that he is still interested in signing the forward this summer if QPR are ready to do business with Newcastle, with the former West Ham boss feeling Remy's performances last term make the case for capturing him.

"It's a straightforward deal if Loic and QPR decide to do business with us", the 53-year-old told the BBC.

"The results speak for themselves, the fans loved him and I think it's a great place for him personally.”

The former West Ham manager conceded that recent events have taken their toll on Remy, but he is still ready to welcome him back to St. James’ Park this summer.

The striker’s proposed move to Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool side did not materialise at the weekend after he failed to pass a medical, a claim which was rubbished by QPR manager Harry Redknapp.

"There is a lot of baggage in the way at the moment because of what happened at Liverpool, and the fact he has a parent club in QPR", Pardew explained.

"But I wouldn't say we're not interested in him, of course we would be."
