FC Porto have decided to end all speculation surrounding their striker Jackson Martinez’s future by tying him down to a new contract.

The striker’s performances for the club last season, where he scored 20 league goals, have generated considerable interest in him from a number of European clubs.

He has been linked with a move to a whole host of clubs this summer, including Arsenal, Valencia, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid.

However, the speculation surrounding Martinez’s future has made Porto take decisive action and the club are ready to tie the striker down to a new long-term contract.

Martinez is ready to sign a new contract with the club and he is set to receive a considerable hike in his pay package, according to O Jogo.

His new contract will also have a buy-out clause which is believed to be around the €40m mark.

Martinez signing a new contract might put off his potential suitors for this summer but his buy-out clause leaves the door open for a future move for the striker.

The 27-year-old has made 91 appearances for Porto and has scored 60 goals for the club.
