Luke Shaw believes that moving to Manchester United from Southampton is a natural step in his career.

Shaw is a product of Southampton’s academy and at 16 made his senior debut for the club against Milwall in January 2012 in an FA Cup tie.

He made 67 first team appearances for the Saints before moving to Manchester United this summer for a reported fee of £27m, which could reach £31m with bonus payments.

“It feels like natural progress now because it was a long time coming”, the England full-back told the club’s official site.

Shaw admits that he was aware of the Red Devils’ interest him and wanted to complete the move before he went to the World Cup in England.

“I knew that United were interested and it was something I wanted to get done before I went to Brazil for the World Cup. But it didn't happen so we got it done when I got back.”

Shaw describes the last two years of his career as “crazy” but now he is focusing on making his mark at Old Trafford.

“It's been a crazy two years and I'm just looking forward to playing for Manchester United and pushing on now.”

The 19-year-old made his England debut in a friendly against Denmark in February this year and played the last World Cup group game against Costa Rica.
