Lazio have announced the signing of Netherlands international Stefan de Vrij from Feyenoord.

The centre-back has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Italian outfit, which will keep him at the Stadio Olimpico until the summer of 2019.

De Vrij, who impressed at the World Cup and helped his nation to finish third in the showpiece event in Brazil, was linked with a move to Manchester United, with Louis van Gaal a big fan of his talents.

However, Lazio have beaten the English outfit in the race to land the defender, who is delighted with the move.

"Lazio really proved that they wanted me and I am very happy I have made this move”, he was quoted as saying by the BBC.
