Sevilla have contacted Southampton to enquire about taking Uruguayan attacking midfielder Gaston Ramirez on loan.

The Saints are in the process of battling further player departures following the loss of Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Calum Chambers and Dejan Lovren.

Now they are fielding interest in another one of their players, with last season's Europa League winners wanting Ramirez on a season-long loan, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

Ramirez slipped out of favour at St. Mary's Stadium under Mauricio Pochettino, but the Argentine tactician left to take over at Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.

It remains to be seen whether new Southampton boss Ronald Koeman is counting upon the former Bologna schemer for the upcoming campaign.

Ramirez has won 31 caps for Uruguay at international level.
