Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg have switched their attention to Fernando Torres after missing out on Romelu Lukaku.

The Wolves, who are aiming to grab a Champions League spot for 2015/16, were keen on snapping up Lukaku from Chelsea, but saw Everton win the race for the Belgium striker.

Now the German outfit are looking at alternatives and, according to Sky Italia, have made contact with Torres' agent to ask about the striker's availability.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has suggested Torres will not leave Stamford Bridge this summer, but a concrete Wolfsburg bid could cause a rethink at the club.

Torres is facing competition for a starting place in the upcoming season from Diego Costa, signed from Atletico Madrid, and club legend Didier Drogba, who has returned for a second spell with the Blues.
