Palermo coach Giuseppe Iachini has played down speculation that Uruguayan striker Abel Hernandez is leaving the club, with the Uruguayan having been linked with Sunderland and Southampton.

The English Premier League pair are thought to be preparing to move to capture Hernandez, but for Iachini, the player remains under his control at present.

Questioned about Hernandez's future at a press conference, the 50-year-old had a short reply, commenting: "As of now, Hernandez remains here, absolutely, yes."

It remains to be seen if the striker's situation changes over the coming weeks, especially if Sunderland and Southampton place firm offers in front of Palermo.

The 23-year-old helped fire Palermo to promotion from Serie B last season, finding the back of the net 14 times in 28 league games.
